Election Day 2005

With headlines like "Elections to gauge political climate" crawling across my browser window, there is no doubt that those on both the left and right will seize any victory as one for their side (or more prescicely on the left, a defeat of Bush).

However, most voters do not vote in state elections with national figures in mind. Corzine may be the exception, since he holds federal office, but I doubt any voters will be voting for Corzine purely on the basis that they dislike the Bush Admnistration.

Personally, I dislike Corzine (I wouldn't vote for him if he called himself Republican) and Forrester has done nothing to "wow" me. In Virginia, I know that Warner is a very popular governor, but that does not spell victory for Kaine. I would wish luck to the state GOP organizations, but there is little they can do as of this writing. Do not be surprised if I do not comment on the results (unless it gets really interesting). I am an expert on neither NJ or VA, but I will still be watching the results.
