Breaking News: Men and Women are Different!
When Harvard President Larry Summers suggested there might be "innate" differences between men and women which draw them often to study in different fields, the left, led by militant feminists, called for his head. However, the release this month of two studies regarding this topic show that Summers might not have been far off. A study from the University of Alberta in Canada shows that men's and women's brains do indeed work differently:
Perhaps they work differently when listening, causing feminists to froth at the mouth at the words "innate differences" and most men to just not hear what was said in the first place.

This perhaps explains why fart jokes are lost on me. But I digress. Larry Summers was unjustly villified for stating what should be manifestly obvious: that men and women ARE different. This does not mean men and women cannot work as equals nor achieve the same sorts of success. It simply means our minds and bodies, as males and females, work differently. As if any man who's dated me ever needed to be told this.
"The comedians are right. The science proves it. A man's brain and a woman's brain really do work differently," a research team from the University of Alberta in Canada announced yesterday.
After analyzing magnetic resonance imaging (MRIs) of 23 men and 10 women, the team found that the sexes use different areas of the brain even when working on exactly the same task.

During the Canadian study, volunteers were given memory, language, spatial and coordination tests while their brains were monitored through the MRIs. The patterns revealed that men and women clearly met the challenges differently.Further, a recent study at the Stanford University School of Medicine showed that men and women generally have differing senses of humor:
"The results jumped out at us," said Emily Bell, one of the researchers. "Sometimes males and females would perform the same tasks and show different brain activation. And sometimes they would perform different tasks and show the same brain activation."
Psychiatrists at the Stanford University School of Medicine announced Nov. 7 that the sexes have different senses of humor as well. Using MRIs to monitor the brains of 10 men and 10 women as they scanned the newspaper cartoons, researchers found "sex-specific differences in the brain's response to humor."
Men want and expect a good punch line. But women have a greater appreciation for language and fewer expectations, but if the punch line delivers, they have a greater sense of "reward," the psychiatrists found.
